On September 13, 2012 a group exhibition by 33 Contemporary Gallery artists opens in the city of Vienna, Austria. The exhibition titled SYNERGY features a variety of woks on paper at 11 x 14 inches in size each. Synergy is defined as the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. For the last three years Vienna and Chicago have been systematically collaborating through artists Petrnilla Hohenwarter (Vienna) and Sergio Gomez (Chicago). Their personal collaboration resulted in a larger project for Synergy. Each participating artist was asked to create a work of art around the exhibition’s title. The works reflect the spirit of enthusiasm, collaboration, force, energy as they embody the spirit of freedom.
Synergy seeks to present a unified body of work reflecting a diverse community of artists who continue to explore international avenues for cultural interaction. Having recently exhibited at the Regional Museum of Natural Science in Turin, Italy, these artists come to Vienna via their works not as ambassadors of only one nation but as participants of an ever growing international artistic community and cultural conversation. It is in such multicultural interaction that each artist and visitor alike gain a broader perspective of the world around.
Synergy takes place not in a big gallery or museum but rather in an intimate and experimental art space called ~artspace191 where visitors are not just another person in the crowd. Instead, each visitor is a guest and a participant in a conversation that takes place around the works on view. This exciting approach elevates the experience and facilitates a meaningful engagement with each visitor. The works on view are small in size inviting the viewer to become closely acquainted with them. The variety of styles representing each artist’s own artistic vision and the emphasis on community makes Synergy a perfect fit for ~artspace191.
~artspace191 is a place and a platform for inspiration and motivation, for art and business, and for a growing social community. It’s an intimate personal space with a meditative spirit, allowing small groups of members and guests to experience peaceful „moments of awareness“ through art and culture, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. artspace191.com
