Brave New Art World
River North

public forum featuring a variety of galleries in the River North gallery district, public performance art, guerrilla street installations, critical talks, and a diverse food and beverage survey… This is an art crawl. Everything is free.
Performance artists are curated by dfbrl8r, and include work from Meredith and Anna of the Happy Collaborationists, Shannon Cochrane, Hope Esser, Thomas Albrecht Sandrine Schaefer, and Emilio Rojas.
The critical talks will be hosted by David Weinberg Gallery, with speakers Victor Nwanko of We Theory (5PM), Jake Myers of Octagon Gallery (6PM), and Tricia Van Eck of 6018 North (7PM).
Participating galleries include Addington, Jean Albano, Andrew Bae, Hilton/Asmus, Roy Boyd, The Coat Check, Stephen Daiter, Catherine Edleman, Jendra, Perimeter, Maya Polsky, R & D, Rangefinder, Judy Saslow, Ken Saunders, Schneider, Vale Craft, Zygman Voss, and David Weinberg. Neighborhood stores open include Wilfred Newman and Golden Triangle.

Into the Deep. Jason Brammer at Adventureland Gallery

Opening Reception: 7-10 pm
Opening on June 7th, Jason’s solo exhibition, titled Into The Deep, will debut new works inspired by medieval bestiaries, nautical maps, navigational instruments, and other tools early cultures used to make visual representations of their worlds and the imagined creatures in them. Reflecting on these images, Jason has created a series of his own mythical creatures of the deep and portholes opening up to expansive and mysterious oceanscapes that contain them. The show will feature ink and watercolor drawings in hand-painted and embellished frames as well as mixed media works.

Linda Warren Projects celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary with the June 7 opening of Conrad Freiburg’s “Before the Grave and Constant,” and Eric Esper’s “Chicago Catastrophes, Conflagrations and Calamities,” as well as a group display of work by all the gallery’s artists and staff. Included in the festivities are a live sand painting performance by Joe Mangrum and a few other surprises!
