The 9th Annual National Self Portrait Exhibition opening at 33 Contemporary Gallery gathered artists, art lovers, enthusiasts and the public at large on Friday, July 19th. The crowd was lively and enthusiastic in one of the hottest Summer days in Chicago this year. Despite the heat, the exhibition celebrated nine years of national contemporary self-portraiture. Unlike the previous years, the artists who submitted works for the exhibition were asked to work within the confines of 12″ all around. Artists were challenged to work in a small scale and the public was delighted to view these great works at close proximity.
The exhibition’s submission page received over 180 works in all media. The final selection included 67 works including photography, drawing, print-making, digital, sculpture, mixed, collage, performance and video. The 9th Annual Self Portrait Exhibition runs from July 19 to August 10, 2013. It can also be visited online at http://www.33contemporary.com/9thPortraitShow/index.html.
Additionally, works may be purchased online until August 11th using PayPal payment option. This is a great way to expand your art collection.
