ABOUT

This exhibition aims to explore how we see ourselves from an external point of view. Artists are invited to examine and interpret the theme from a social, political or psychological point of view. We are looking for self-portraits that examine how you think others would see you as an outsider. This is an opportunity to reinvent yourself. From high realism to abstract expression, Reinventing Ourselves from another POV exhibition will provide an open platform for self-exploration.

Awards

Front Cover
The honor of having the front cover of the publication iARTistas. The front cover is selected by the curators.

The Coat Hanger Award (GOSS183) – Selected by Howard Tullman
$500 – This award was first given as a poetry prize in 2004 for MiPOesias Magazine. It is now extended to the visual arts. The award originally had a different title but after Jack Anders wrote the dedication for it, he referred to as “the coat hanger” because it is in reference to the last memories Dulce Menendez has of her father who wove strings onto wire coat hangers while he was instituted in a facility for the mentally ill. One of these hangers was given to Jack Anders and his wife when visiting Menendez for a poetry reading in South Florida. Read the dedication by Jack Anders here.

Award of Excellence selected by artist John Seed ($300)
